San Diego has one of the best climates and weather of any state in the US. It is normally sunny and in the 70’s 12 months a year making it a perfect place to participate in outdoor activities and sports. There are many long piers in California and San Diego is no exception. Just be sure to get a fishing license before you go. Another fun activity to do is go whale watching. This area is one of the points where the gray whales are migrating to Baja California where they give birth to their calves in the warmer water.

If you are looking to get some exercise and like doing some adventure type of sports and activities, then head to the nearby Mission Trails Regional Park. This is a great park with that is huge and has exciting mountain bike trails in addition to all levels of hiking and rock climbing areas. If you are physically fit, challenge yourself by attempting to hike up Cowles Mountain for a breathtaking view at the top as your reward. Another great activity that is not as physically demanding is to head to Morley Field Disc golf and let your frisbees fly on this well planned disc golf course.

If you are vacationing in San Diego and do not normally live near the water, you may wish to do some water activities. They have a couple of surfing schools situated here and some are focused on teaching only kids or women only providing those groups with a less intimidating experience to try to surf for the first time. Another fun activity is to rent a kayak and do some exploring of the area in that. If you have never gone sea kayaking, then you may decide to take a class or go on a group tour to feel a bit more comfortable.

If you are an adrenaline junkie who loves the outside type of activities, then perhaps you should go to the top of the cliffs that look down on the Pacific Ocean for a great thrill. You can go hang gliding or parasailing off these cliffs with a adventure company that ensures your safety and experience.
